Privacy Policy

Effective: August 6, 2026 · Last updated: August 6, 2026

Tellshot is a macOS application developed by Agoraxa inc. This policy covers the Tellshot app and this website (tellshot.com). It describes what data they handle — and, more importantly, what they don't.

  • Your screenshots and text never leave your Mac. No uploads, no sync, no account.
  • The app talks to the internet for exactly two things: update checks and optional, anonymized crash reports. Both can be turned off.
  • This website uses no cookies and no cross-site tracking.

Data that stays on your Mac

Screenshots, annotations, comments, page info, templates, editing history, review documents, and settings are processed and stored entirely on your Mac — including OCR and sensitive-text detection, which run locally. Tellshot has no account system and no telemetry on your content.

Update checks (Sparkle)

Tellshot checks for updates by fetching a public update feed hosted on GitHub Pages, and downloads updates from GitHub Releases. These are standard web requests: GitHub's servers see your IP address and a user-agent string, per GitHub's privacy statement. Sparkle's optional system profiling is not enabled — Tellshot sends no information about your system with the check. You can disable automatic checks in Settings → General.

Crash reports (optional, anonymized)

To help us fix bugs, Tellshot can send a crash report via Sentry when the app crashes fatally — and only then. Reports are aggressively stripped before sending. Each report contains:

A report never includes your screenshots, annotations, comments, history, clipboard contents, file paths, device name, or any user identifier. Sentry's default personal-data collection is disabled, so no IP address or user context is recorded on the event. Reports are retained by Sentry for a limited period (typically 90 days) and then deleted automatically.

Crash reporting is on by default during the beta and can be turned off any time in Settings → General → Privacy.

This website

tellshot.com is a static site served by Cloudflare, whose infrastructure keeps standard server logs (IP address, requested page) per Cloudflare's privacy policy. For page-view counts we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookie-less and does not identify individual visitors. The site sets no cookies and embeds no advertising or social trackers. Downloads are served from GitHub Releases.

Third-party services

No other third party receives any data from Tellshot or this site.

Your rights

Because Tellshot keeps no account and records no personal identifiers, there is normally nothing on our side to disclose, correct, or delete. If you have any question about your data, contact us and we'll help.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Tellshot evolves. Material changes will be announced in the release notes, with the “last updated” date above revised.
